Oats as animal feed
STEAM-ROLLED OATS
Advance value of 120 Steam-rolled oat feed is made from the best quality Norwegian food oats. The oats are steamed at over 100 degrees for 40 minutes - before being rolled and refrigerated. This makes the oats both more nutritious and shelf-stable - with a reserve value of 120.
The special heat treatment gives the steam-rolled oats a particularly high energy and protein content. In addition, a good nutrient absorption and almost unlimited shelf life. Compared to regular oats, steam-rolled oats have completely unique properties;
Steam-rolled oats have significantly higher energy (FEm) and protein value (AAT)
- The energy content shows 1.2 FEm against 0.98
- The protein value shows 109 AAT against 67
The digestion coefficient of fibre/crude fibre (CF) is significantly higher for steam-rolled oats, which means that the fibre is more easily digestible than for regular oats. It has been documented that steam-rolled oat feed increases milk production in cows, sheep get more energy - which is important during mating and lactation. Calves are able to absorb more nutrients from steam-rolled oats than from regular oats.
OAT HUSK FLOUR - Rich in fiber
The oat shell is rich on fibre, and is well suited as a supplementary feed to the roughage. A climate with a lot of rain makes the roughage less rich in fibre. Therefore, it is recommended to mix oat husk flour into the roughage to increase fiber and nutrient content.
Oat husk flour is an inexpensive supplementary feed that is sold in big bags around 5-600 kg.
